Gundam Wing[]
In the Gundum wing Episode "The Song of Truth" the character Lacus was in Copernicus City gathering intelligence under the guise of a shopping trip there at its shopping center. Lacus recives a message from Meer, who is afraid of being killed. Though Athrun and Meyrin insists it is a trap, Lacus decides to meet Meer anyways. The would-be assassins are killed, but Meer is mortally wounded.

Copernicus City was likely named after the homonymous crater on Luna, in which the city might be located, which itself is named after Nicolaus Copernicus, a European astronomer of the 16th century. Its relation, if any, with the Copernicus Ship Yards and the University of Copernicus is unknown.
